Truck killed pedestrian in Anambra and left two injured

A truck killed an unknown female pedestrian and injured two other people along Onitsha-Asaba Bridhe Head in Anambra, Nigeria. The Sector Commander of the Federal Safety Road Corps (FRSC), Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi confirmed this incident to reporters in Awka City today.

Adeoye said an oversized white and green Mercedes-Benz truck with registration number NKE 25 LG hit pedestrians. They received eyewitness reports saying the truck slammed into pedestrians on the road due to brake failure.

He also stated a female pedestrian was killed and two people received injuries due to a truck crash in Anambra. The member of the FRSC rescue team transported injured victims to the Toronto hospital in Onitsha. However, they placed the dead body in the hospital morgue as could not identify the dead woman.

FRSC Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi sent condolences to the family of a deceased woman while advising drivers to keep their vehicles well-maintained and determine when it is safe to drive. He also urged drivers to follow traffic laws.

In a separate incident, one man died, and eight received injuries on the same date the previous month in a truck-car crash. This accident happened along the Owerri-Ihiala Expressway in Anambra.

The crash involved a car and a commercial bus. Eyewitnesses stated the driver of a Ford car was driving quickly when one of its front tires came off. As a result, he lost control and struck the back of a truck, in front of it.

Eleven people fell victim to the accident including 7 male adults and 4 female adults. One of these male adults died. However, four male and female adults received injuries while two people remained unharmed.

The Acting Sector Public Education Officer for the Federal Road Safety Corps, Margaret Onabe confirmed this accident. The officer stated speed and loss of control were the reasons behind this crash.
