Kenyan mother donates her excess breast milk to needy newborn children to help them survive and overcome milk deficiency issues. Her name is Chelimo Njoroge.

Chelimo is a mother of two who is generous because she has too much breast milk. Hence, she produces an enormous amount of milk while she feeds her five-and-a-half-month-old children with her breast milk.

If Chelimo donates her breast milk today, she may feed ten newborns in neonatal intensive care for almost two months. Newborn children who are ill or premature are kept in neonatal units for extreme medical care.

Hence, she decided to provide her extra breast milk to needy families rather than letting it go to waste. She currently has more than 180 liters of breast milk in her freezer.

Chelimo revealed she has a refrigerator full of breast milk and has taken some of those packs to her sister’s house for storage. She said she delivered a baby in 2021 when her child had trouble latching on.

So, doctors advised her to pump milk from her breast. That was the start of her journey of pumping milk. Getting her baby to latch on was the hardest part as she kept pumping, her milk supply went from 40 ml to 700 ml, which is a significant rise.

However, her best friend also had a two-month-old baby at the same time. So, she started giving her baby some of her milk. That’s how her journey of donating began informally.

Following this, Chemilo realized how her situation could help other families having trouble parenting, especially, mothers who can’t breastfeed their children.

So, she posted a video asking where she could give her extra milk because she knew how hard it was for many new parents. Soon, she received an overwhelming response from mothers who couldn’t afford baby formula.

Some fathers also approached her for breast milk. This is how her excess breast milk supply journey started and a generous Kenyan mother donates it to deserving families.
