Janata Dal Party suspended Prajwal Revanna over sex scandal

The Indian political party Janata Dal Secular Party (JDS) has suspended its member and MP Prajwal Revanna over a sex scandal matter. It came when a vulgar video emerged allegedly showing him abusing several women sexually.

JDS party has also issued Prajwal a show-cause notice following his controversial video. Prajwal is recently a member of Parliament for the Hassan constituency in Karnataka. He belongs to a political family and is the grandson of senior Indian senator and JDS chief H. D. Deve Gowda.

The allegedly Prajwal Revanna video footage appeared on social media the day after his constituency held elections. The sex scandal involved hundreds of sexual video clips that were widely shared in the Hassan constituency. There are also allegations on Prajwal that he shot these clips.

After circulating video footage, a woman accused Prajwal Revanna of sexual assault and filed a police report against him. She claimed she experienced several times sexual abuse by Prajwal between 2019 and 2022. She was a house helper at Revanna’s house.

Moreover, the complainant woman stated that Prajwal also misbehaved with her daughter during a video call. She also claimed when the wife of Prajwal was not at home, he assaulted her sexually.

HD Revanna is the father of Prajwal. The woman complainant also accused him in this case. HD Revanna is a Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Holenarasipur constituency. He accused political rivals of creating a conspiracy of viral video clips.

Following the sex video scandal, the Janata Dal Party suspended the newly elected member of the Indian Parliament Prajwal Revanna. However, Prajwal has strongly denied these allegations. He also filed a complaint claiming that circulating videos on social media are tampered with.

The alleged sexual videos of Prajwal went viral shortly after he left for Germany on April 27, 2024. Meanwhile, the Karnataka government has formed a special investigation team (SIT) for the alleged video matter.
