Five family members killed in Hawaii murder-suicide

Authorities in Hawaii are investigating the tragic murder-suicide of five family members who were killed at their Honolulu home. Police suspect the father stabbed his wife and three children before committing suicide.

Witnesses reported a dispute at the home in the early morning. The Honolulu family murder-suicide deaths are the worst mass killings in more than two decades.

Police responded to a report around 8:30 local time but departed when no one opened the door. They told it while holding a news press conference. Less than an hour later, officers responded to a second call and discovered four people dead stabbed in their home.

According to the authorities, they found the husband dead with his wife and children. There are three children aged 10, 12, and 17 among the killed five family members. Law enforcement officials are still investigating the motive of the death.

Honolulu Police Chief Joe Logan stated the crime scene would affect the responding officers as it would on any officer for the rest of their lives. Nearby residents informed local media that the family had resided in the neighborhood for about a decade. The youngsters may often seen playing outside.

Neighborhood resident Hiro Izumo told Hawaii News Now they (the deceased family) were like a standard festival family. They decorated the house for holidays and it was all normal.

Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi said in a statement that the unexplainable catastrophic deaths had shaken their community. The deaths are one of the bloodiest crimes in Hawaii state since the so-called “Xerox murders” of 1999. The Xerox murders are also known as “1999 Honolulu shootings.”

It was a mass murder that took place on November 2, 1999, in the Xerox Corporation facility in Honolulu. A service technician, Byran Koji Uyesugi, shot eight individuals and wounded seven people.
