Recent media reports stated that this latest earthquake has caused no damage. However, people on social media stated that the shaking and after-effects of the earthquake were extraordinary.

Bangladesh faced at least seven earthquakes in Dhaka and other cities of the country. The epicenters of most of the shocks were located near Dhaka. Among multiple earthquakes, the latest one happened in August at the border with northeast India.

According to Geologists, Bangladesh is experiencing mild to moderate earthquakes due to its geographical location on the Indo-Burma tectonic plates. As a result of the opposing movements of the Burmese Plate and Indian Plate. They further claim that a substantial amount of energy has accumulated at the junction of these two plates. The stored energy is looking for a method to be released which results in regular earthquakes.

Experts point out that Bangladesh is an earthquake-prone area. The amount of energy accumulating beneath it means that the country could experience a big earthquake.
