Biden discussed hostage release with Qatari Emir over phone call
US President Joe Biden has discussed the hostage release with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani over a phone call. Both leaders also talked about the efforts to increase humanitarian aid in Gaza.
Joe Biden and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani discussed the need to release the hostage held in Gaza. As well as efforts their attempts to increase humanitarian relief to the people of Gaza.
According to the Qatari State News Agency, Joe Biden called Emir Tamim to discuss the recent events and existing collaborative mediation efforts for calming the situation in the besieged zone of Gaza. They also talked about the urgent need to reach a permanent ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas.
Qatar and Egypt served as mediators between Israel and the militant group Hamas to reach a hostage deal in late November. According to that deal, Hamas released hostages held in Gaza in exchange for Palestinian captives held by Israeli Defense Forces.
However, it was a temporary deal for four days during which Israel and Hamas exchanged hostages. Access to humanitarian aid was made possible to the affected people of Gaza.
There was a complete ceasefire during this time. After the temporary deal, the war between Israel and Hamas again resumed and humanitarian crises are still in effect.

Mr. Joe Biden is also more concerned about restoring the hostages deal. Because the captives that Hamas has held are also American citizens. So, he contacted the Qatari Emir to revive the deal to recover the hostages from the captivity of Hamas.
Likely, Qatar has played a crucial role in the indirect negotiations between Hamas, Israel, and the United States. It resulted in a weeklong temporary deal last month allowing the release of Palestinian and Israeli security prisoners in exchange for a pause in war.
However, the recent talks are going on to reach a renewed deal. As well as to facilitate the release of approximately 130 hostages held in Gaza.
