Unnao bus accident: 18 people died and 19 injured in bus-tanker hit
At least 18 people died and 19 received injuries as a double-decker bus collided with a milk tanker at Unnao in a tragic accident. Unnao is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP).
According to authorities, this accident took the lives of three mothers and one child. The tragedy unfolded when a double-decker bus was heading from Motihari, Bihar, to Delhi. It collided with the milk tanker this morning on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Unnao.
The impact of this collision was so large that people appeared to throw from the bus. Images from an accident place showed broken images, twisted metal pieces, and people on the ground with damaged property.
This accident happened at approximately 5:15 a.m. Gaurang Rathi is the district magistrate of Unnao who confirmed the death of eighteen people in this accident.
Rescue personnel arrived at the incident place and shifted injured people to the hospital for medical treatment. Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has conveyed his sorrow over the incident and instructed the staff to ensure the proper treatment of injured people.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed condolences for the tragic bus accident in Unnao. He announced a compensation of INR 2 lakh for families of dead people and INR 50,000 for injured victims.
President Droupadi Murmu also expressed deep grief at the deaths of 18 passengers. She condoled to the family members of dead victims. She wished for a speedy recovery of injured passengers.
Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav, the President of the Samajwadi Party, has strongly criticized the ruling party BJP- for the Unnao bus accident. He alleged that BJP’s negligence resulted in this tragic outcome.
Akhilesh also raised several questions about government arrangements on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. He questioned why the vehicle (milk tanker) was standing in the middle of the highway despite the availability of special parking zones on the expressway.
He raised concerns about the absence of Highway police who did not conduct regular monitoring and patrolling there. Hence, he demands an investigation of this accident.
According to early investigations, the bus was traveling at high speed. Hence, it made it out of control and hit the milk tanker. It also revealed shocking facts that the bus driver had fake papers. He had no permit to drive.
