The longer United went without converting one of its chances, the more at ease Sydney became with taking the sting out of the game and seeing it out on home soil.
However, United was not going down without a fight. When a teenager Grimaldi came off the bench to make an immediate impact. He shot into the roof of the net from Josh Risdon’s cut-back for his first A-League goal.
Meanwhile, Sydney won in stoppage time when Joe Lolley shot beautifully into the top corner after the goal of Grimaldi. Luke Brattan passed the ball to Lolley who hit it into the top corner to complete the three-point play and won the match.
