Texas Man became fake CPS worker to sexually abuse children
A 56-year-old Texas man named Gerald Don Miller became a fake CPS (Child Protective Services) worker to access and sexually abuse children. CPS investigates the charges of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of children.
The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office revealed they received a report on June 18, 2024, about a man pretending to be a CPS worker. A child’s parents gave this report after Gerald allegedly told them he needed to talk to their child.
Hence, they gave access to Gerald their child, and sexually abused him. Following this incident, the victim’s family reported the incident to Lamar County Sheriff’s detectives.
They provided detectives a description of Gerald and his vehicle which he rode to reach their home. Following this, Lamar detectives found that a similar incident happened in Sulphur Springs, Texas last year.
They found a similarity in the Sulphur suspect and vehicle description with the suspect in Lamar County. Hence, Lamar detectives identified Gerald as the culprit responsible for criminal acts adopting a fake persona and sexual abuse.
They gained an arrest warrant for him and a search warrant for his home and vehicle. They located his property by tracking his vehicle. Detectives also found evidence in his vehicle regarding incident in Sulphur Springs.

Scott Cass is an officer at Lamar County Sherrif. He said this investigation is the perfect example of coordination between agencies to help catch a suspect. He also expressed gratitude that they had arrested another criminal and wiped out streets from his access.
However, authorities urged people to remember that CPS workers carry certified credentials. They also show proof of these claimed credentials before speaking to them.
