Russian Interior Ministry puts Minister Aleksashenko on wanted list

Russian Interior Ministry puts the name of former Foreign Minister Sergey Aleksashenko on the wanted list. The Russian Interior Ministry’s criminal investigation base has identified Sergey Aleksashenko as a foreign agent.

In this regard, the Interior Ministry has placed his name on the wanted list for a criminal accusation. Sergey also served as the First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Russia.

According to the investigation base, Sergey V. Aleksashenko is on the wanted list under the article of the Criminal Code.

Under the chairman of the Russian State Duma, a commission is investigating foreign interference in domestic Russian issues. Chairman Vasily Piskaryov filed a request with the Russian Federation’s Prosecutor General’s Office on November 16. In response to anti-Russian activities by economists Sergey Guriyev and Sergey Aleksashenko.

According to Piskaryov, Sergeys were identified as foreign agents in the nation. Elements of crime, including high treason, might be discovered in their conduct. Vasily threatened them with life imprisonment for treason and called for sanctions.

On Wednesday, a State Duma commission investigated foreign interference. The commission said it was calling for a life sentence for Sergey Aleksashenko and Sergey Guriyev. As Sergey with other co-authors of the Michael McFall Expert Group worked on sanctions against the Russian Federation.

Michael McFall Expert Group is a group of independent experts. They work on the implementation of sanctions against Russia in response to the Russian Invasion of Ukraine.

Sergey Aleksashenko now lives outside Russia. He served as Russia’s Deputy Finance Minister from 1993 to 1995. And as the Bank of Russia’s First Deputy Governor from 1995 to 1998.
