Irish teacher Enoch Burke jailed for third time for violating court order

Irish authorities jailed teacher Enoch Burke for the third time for violating a court order to stay away from Wilson’s Hospital School. They arrested him from outside the school.

According to Irish media, law enforcement officials took him in a Garda car to Dublin Court parked outside Wilson’s Hospital School in Country Westmeath.

It is significant to note that Enoch had already served more than 400 days in Mountjoy Prison. He spent this jail sentence for continuously disobeying the High Court verdict which stopped him from entering the school’s premises.

Justice Michael Quinn jailed Irish teacher Enoch Burke for contempt of court. When asked if he wanted to return to school, he refused to respond with yes or no. Instead, he kept visiting school despite the court’s order not to enter school.

However, Enoch addressed Justice Michael saying he would answer to God for imprisoning him for his religious beliefs when he passed this verdict.

He and his family protested against the court’s verdict that the judge failed to deal with this matter. They accused Judge considered only the report of then-school principal Niamh McShane.

Enoch stated that ex-principal Niamh claimed he was guilty of gross misconduct. However, the court never considered the legality of this case.

They said authorities unlawfully arrested Enoch for the second time in September 2023 just because of his stance against transgenderism and not supporting transgender ideology.

This controversy started when Wilson’s Hospital School suspended him after a public confrontation with the then-principal Niamh McShane in January 2023. His suspension came after he refused to call a student under the name “they” instead of “he.”

Enoch objected to using the new pronoun “they” for that student who wanted to change his gender. He emphasized this is against Christian belief.

His strong Christian convictions are against transgenderism which led him to his suspension. Since his suspension, Irish authorities jailed him for the third time. The recent arrest came after her release from prison in June 2024.
