Dublin riots and clashes: Fireworks thrown at Police

The violent riots and clashes have occurred in the capital city of Ireland, Dublin where Irish people have thrown fireworks at police. These riots began after five people including three children got injured in a knife attack.

There were violent clashes between huge numbers of protestors and Ireland police known as “Garda”. Violent protestors set Garda’s vehicles on fire and shops looted.

Irish Justice Minster Helen McEntee released a statement that a group of people, thugs, and criminals are using this attack to wreak havoc. She said law enforcement authorities would not tolerate a small group using this shocking incident to create a divide among Irish people.

Helen appealed for peace throughout the city of Dublin. She emphasized that Garda officers are carrying out their work. She said people must condemn the attacks on Garda and authorities will deal with these attacks severely.

Irish authorities have suspended the public transport system including bus services as a result of a major public disorder in Dublin. There are reports of protestors firing flares and fireworks at police vehicles. At least, one Garda vehicle has been set on fire on Parnell Street.

According to Drew Harris, the Dublin riot is the result of a lunatic, hooligan faction driven by far-right ideology. Drew is the Commissioner of Garda.

However, protestors have also set a bus and car on fire at the O’Connell Bridge end of O’Connell Street. The knife attack happened outside the Gaelscoil Choláiste Mhuire school.

The injured victims including children and women belonged to the school. They are all transferred to the hospital including the knife attacker.

Gardai are investigating whether there is any connection between the main suspect and anyone outside the school or at the scene. They found the main suspect was a naturalized Irish citizen. He has lived in the United States for the past 20 years.
