British Islamist preacher Anjem Choudary jailed for life on terrorism charges

UK court jailed British Islamist preacher Anjem Choudary for life after finding him guilty on terrorism charges. Anjem is facing a conviction for leading a terrorist group, Al-Muhajoron (ALM).

He was found guilty last week of playing a “caretaker role” in running the ALM group when its founder was serving a jail sentence. According to counterterrorism authorities, Anjem has had an extreme impact on terrorists.

Moreover, they also charged him for promoting support for ALM by giving online lectures to the Islamic Thinkers Society (ITS). UK Prosecutors claimed ITS was an alternative name for ALM.

The conviction against Anjem came after the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Metropolitan Police, and the New York Police Department investigated his case.

According to the investigation, Anjem helped establish ALM in 1996. He spent around 30 years conducting terrorist activities while running ALM.

Anjem was also an ally of criminals and terrorists including Woolwich killer Michael Adebo, London Bridge Terrorist Khuram Butt, and Fishmongers’ Hall attacker Usman Khan.

However, Paul Hynes KC is Anjem’s defense lawyer. He stated when Anjem took over ALM, it was barely an organization. He was not getting the masses to join this movement.
