Australian PM arrives at White House to meet Joe Biden

Australian PM Anthony Albanese with his partner Jodie Haydon arrives at the White House to meet US President Joe Biden.

Mr. Anthony and his partner greeted Joe Biden and US first lady Jill Biden. The Australian couple have to attend a private dinner at the White House.

Joe Biden is hosting the dinner to welcome his Australian counterpart to the US. Anthony reached America on Oct 22, 2023, to discuss the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the AUKUS submarine deal.

The official visit of the Australian Prime Minister to the United States is for four days to establish an alliance for the future.

The White House abandoned plans to have new wave band B-52s perform at a state dinner today for the Australian PM after deciding that it would be inappropriate. US First Lady said many are facing sorrow and pain without directly referencing the devastation of the Israel-HAMAS war.

Jill Biden announced on Tuesday that “we have made a few adjustments to the entertainment portion” of the dinner. In spite of the band B-52s, the instrumental music will be for entertainment. Marine band and the Army and Air Force Strolling Strings will perform it. Band-52s is famous for its song “Love Shack” and other hits.

Jill said nurturing our partnerships and relationships with our allies is critically important, especially in these turbulent times. Food is comforting, reassuring, and healing. And she hopes that this dinner provides a little of that as well.

However, members of the B-52s will be guests at the dinner honoring the Australian PM who arrives White House to meet Joe Biden.
