Mohammad Amir rejects Hafeez’s proposal to take back retirement

Pakistan Cricket Team’s former left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir rejects Mohammad Hafeez’s proposal to take back retirement. Mohammad Hafiz is the current director of the Pakistani Cricket Team.

Hafeez held a press conference yesterday November 28, 2023, at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore when he revealed the decision of Amir to not take back retirement.

One of the many topics, Hafeez discussed was the left-arm bowler Mohammad Amir. Hafeez stated that he approached the newly retired fast bowler and offered him the opportunity to play for Pakistan.

Hafeez said that he personally phoned Amir and told him that if he wanted to play for Pakistan again, he may take back his retirement and rejoin the team.

He will be selected for the Pakistan team if he performs well. He told Amir that once he joined the team, he would be offered equal opportunities as others.

Hafeez went on to say that if Amir had performed well at home, he would have considered him for selection. But Amir rejected his offer straight away.

However, Amir replied that he has moved on in his life and that his priorities have shifted which we must respect. He stated that he wishes to play in international leagues and does not wish to restart his domestic cricket from scratch.

Mohammed Amir declared his international retirement back in December 2020. He mentioned the reason for retirement as mental torment by team management. Amir once said in an interview on TV that he was not wanted in the Pakistan team.
