The Chinese government banned workers from using iPhones and Apple’s the world’s largest company by market valuation, has seen a significant decline in its stock shares over the past two days, amounting to nearly a 6% drop or approximately $200 billion in value. This decline comes as China, a major player in the global tech market and a significant contributor to Apple’s revenue (accounting for 18% last year), widens its ban on iPhones within various government agencies and offices.

The extent to which these instructions were communicated throughout the Chinese official hierarchy remains unclear. There has been always a conflict between China and the United States on dominance in the market but, there are no official statements in response to these reports by the Chinese government.
