PML-N clean-swept PTI in by-elections 2024

The ruling party Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) clean-swept the most popular Pakistan political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in by-elections in 2024. PML-N won most of the seats contested on April 21, 2024.

After winning these seats, PML-N gave its followers and workers cause for celebration in the April 21 by-elections. However, PTI has dealt with a serious blow and faced clean-swept by PML-N in by-elections 2024 unlike general elections 2024.

According to unofficial results, PML-N has won at least two of the five NA seats. However, it won ten of sixteen seats in the three provincial legislatures in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) supported by PTI have won each single seat in the provincial assemblies. Moreover, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PMLQ) and the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) also won each seat in provincial assemblies.

Surprisingly, PTI faced a major setback when an independent candidate Mubarak Zeb defeated PTI’s nominee Gul Zafar Khan in the NA-8 Bajaur constituency.

Mubarak Zeb is the brother of the late independent PTI-nominated candidate Rehan Zeb. Terrorists killed him during the election campaign. He also defeated Abid Khan of Jamaat-e-Islami to win the provincial PK-22 seat in Bajaur.

Ali Pervazi Malik of the PML-N won 60,918 votes. He defeated SIC candidate Shehzad Farooq for the NA-119 seat in Punjab. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has left this seat vacant.
