Pakistan strikes back at Iran after a deadly attack in Balochistan
Pakistan strikes back on terrorist hideouts in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province of Iran after its deadliest attack in Balochistan. Pakistan launched early morning attacks apparently in retaliation to Iran’s violation of its airspace over the previous day.
The Foreign Office of Pakistan (FO) confirmed the unusual step in a statement issued shortly thereafter. According to the FO statement, Pakistan carried out a series of highly organized and specifically targeted precision military attacks against terrorist hideouts in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province.
Pakistan launched this attack under the intelligence-based operation “Marg Bar Sarmachar.” According to FO, Pakistani air attacks have killed several terrorists as a result of this operation.
The precision strikes targeted BLA and BLF terrorist camps at three different locations, Sarawan, Sham-e-Sar, and Hanag in Sistan-Baluchestan province. BLA refers to the Balochistan Liberation Army. BLF refers to the Balochistan Liberation Front. These are the most influential militant separatist groups in Balochistan collectively called “Sarmachars.”
A day earlier, Pakistan recalled its ambassador from Iran and expelled Tehran’s representative in response to the Iranian missile strikes. However, it all came up when intensive negotiations were happening between both countries.
It was the first time Pakistan had to recall its ambassador from Iran. Even though the two nations have previously had strained relations. This demonstrates the level of tension between the two neighbors.
The quick deterioration in relations was precipitated by Iran’s missile and drone strikes inside Pakistan on Jan 16, 2023. Iran said the strikes targeted two ‘terrorist bases’ of Jaish-al Adl in Pakistan. It is an anti-Iran terrorist group operating from Iran’s Sistan-Baluchistan province. However, Pakistan denied the Iranian claims, saying the strikes killed two innocent youngsters and injured three girls.

Meanwhile, Pakistan strongly criticized Iran’s “unprovoked violation of its airspace” and issued a warning of severe consequences. Now, Pakistan strikes back at Iran, targeting terrorist bases in retaliatory response.
FO stated that Pakistan has constantly voiced its severe concerns with Iran about the safe havens and sanctuaries enjoyed by Sarmachars in Iran’s ungoverned spaces. Sarmachars are Pakistani-origin terrorists who reside in Iran. Pakistan also submitted many reports containing noticeable evidence of the terrorists’ presence and activity.
However, due to a lack of response to Pakistan’s significant concerns, Sarmachars continued to bleed the blood of innocent Pakistanis without consequence. This morning’s strike came in response to credible intelligence targeting large-scale terrorist activity by these so-called Sarmachars in Iran.
