Journalist Imran Riaz Khan arrested again from his residence
Renowned Journalist Imran Riaz Khan has been arrested again from his residence in a housing society near Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Area, Lahore. The facts surrounding his detention remain a mystery as neither his family nor the general public are aware of the reasons for his unexpected imprisonment.
The brother of Imran Riaz Khan, Usman Riaz Khan, confirmed the arrest news at midnight and expressed concerns over it. The family of the journalist and colleagues are uncertain and fearful about the well-being of Imran Riaz.
Usman Riaz Khan rushed to social media to break the news of his brother’s arrest. It sparks the debate and calls for openness to the circumstances behind the arrest.
This is because the circumstances and detention place of Imran Riaz remain unknown. The general public has also expressed extreme concern and featured Imran Riaz Khan in the trending section of Twitter X.
The video released online showed police cars carrying the journalist while authorities have not provided any updates on the arrest of Imran Riaz Khan.

However, the arrest of Imran Riaz came after the Cybercrime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) summoned Imran Riaz. FIA has also called another journalist, Asad Toor. They have accusations of alleged participation in an anti-judiciary campaign on social media sites.
FIA has summoned Imran Riaz to its office in Lahore. Meanwhile, Asad Toor has to appear at the FIA headquarters in Islamabad. The move of FIA is in response to their alleged involvement in activities that authorities consider damaging to the integrity and independence of the court.
Although Journalist Imran Riaz Khan has not been arrested for the first time. Law enforcement agencies have arrested him several times. He faced imprisonment and went missing for more than four months in 2023. Later, he returned home in September last year and was not in the best shape. Following this, his family, colleagues, and the general public have expressed deep concern.
