Former FIA Chief Bashir Memon becomes PMLN Sindh President

Former FIA Chief Bashir Memon becomes PMLN President of Sindh after the party announcement today.

Bashir Memon has served as the director general of FIA from October 2018 to April 2020. On the other hand, the party has appointed Shah Muhammad Shah as the vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz. PML-N has published an official announcement in this regard.

PML-N issued an official statement that President PML-N is pleased to designate Mr.Bashir Memon as Provincial President of Pakistan Muslim League-N Sindh with immediate effect, in the exercise of the powers granted to him by Article 13(b) of the constitution of the party.

Bashir previously became the convenor of the Sindh reception committee after joining the party. This committee was tasked and formed to welcome the PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif on October 21. Former FIA Chief Bashir Memon joined the party on September 29, 2023.

The senior vice president of PML-N Maryam Nawaz appointed Mr. Bashir as chairperson of the PML-N Sindh’s 12-member committee.

Bashir Memon has accusations of assisting a suspect wanted for financial crimes in another country. He has allegations that he failed to investigate the claims of a person’s money laundering. However, the Session Court acquitted him in April 2022 in this matter.

Besides money laundering, Mr.Bashir had accusations of human trafficking and fraud the previous year. Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered FIA to stop proceeding investigation against him because FIA failed to provide a record of three cases against him.
