Israel airstrike on UN school shelter killed at least 37 people

Israel launched an airstrike on a UN school shelter in central Gaza, which resulted in the death of at least 37 people. Dozens of Palestinians have received critical injuries as a result of this fatal attack.

There are media reports that Israel launched two missiles targeting the residences in the Nuseirat refugee camp and al-Sardi school (UNRWA-based school). UNRWA refers to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military defense force (IDF) confirmed the attack. They claimed they precisely targeted the Hamas compound hidden inside a UNRWA school in the area of Nuseirat.

According to IDF, they destroyed the Hamas base, which was planning to carry out attacks against its forces. They also claimed to reduce the risk of harming uninvolved civilians during its strike.

However, the Palestinian militant organization Hamas denied their existence inside the UNRWA school. They called this attack a “horrible massacre” because many women and children were victims.

This attack happened last night. The UNRWA stated that thousands of displaced Palestinians were seeking refugee in al-Sardi school when Israel launched a strike.

After this attack, Al-Aqsa Hospital has overflowed with injured patients and dead bodies. It claims to have received 37 dead bodies due to an airstrike by Israel on the UN school shelter.

A spokesperson for the Government Media Office in Gaza, Ismail al-Thawabta, stated there are massive numbers of dead and injured people in Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah, Gaza Strip.

Ismail stated that this horrific atrocity carried out by Israeli occupation is unmistakable proof of ethnic cleansing and genocide against civilians. Their victims are women, children, and those who have been displaced in the Gaza Strip.

He also revealed that Al-Aqsa Hospital received injured patients three times beyond its clinical capacity. This attack shows a genuine disaster that will result in an even higher death toll.
