G7 leaders accused China of facilitating Russian war on Ukraine
The leaders of G7 accused China of facilitating the Russian war on Ukraine during its 50th summit in the city of Fasano in Apulia, Italy. They also warned China against helping Russia launch a war in Ukraine.
G7 leaders took an aggressive stance against China. They also threatened to impose more sanctions against its companies that financially support the Russian military.
According to their joint statement, China’s continued support for the defense industrial sector of Russia has enabled Russia to maintain its illegal war in Ukraine.
They demand China stop sending dual-use goods, such as equipment and weaponry, to Russia to support its defense industry. The leaders also vowed to take additional measures, including penalties, against Chinese companies allegedly helping Russia dodge Western sanctions.
So, they will continue taking measures against offenders in China and third countries that materially support Russia’s war machine. They also promised to implement “restrictive measures” to prevent abuse and restrict access to their financial systems from China.
G7 leaders also accused some financial institutions and companies in China of facilitating Russia’s buying items for its defense industrial base. According to American officials, Chinese supplies of semiconductors, materials, and machine tools allegedly helped Russia. It increased tank manufacturing and armored vehicles in Russia.
Following serious allegations and warnings of the G7 Summit, China has categorically rejected these claims. It claimed that it has strengthened export controls on ammunition and has not given weaponry to any country.
