Boycott Zara is trending on Twitter X for its controversial campaign
Hashtag boycott Zara is trending on X (formerly Twitter) for launching its controversial and insensitive campaign “The Jacket”. Spanish Clothing retailer “Zara” is caught up in a crisis following its latest advertisement campaign launched on Dec 8, 2023.
The campaign was designed to promote the versatility of garments sparked public outrage owing to disturbing visuals symbolic of the Gaza genocide. Zara used controversial images which are reminiscent of the Gaza tragedy in its advertising campaign.
However, Zara claims that the campaign’s focus is on design yet the images displayed have sparked the widespread outrage of netizens worldwide.
Netizens’ backlash on Zara’s campaign
A well-renowned Turkish actress Esra Bilgic shared the insensitive photoshoot images of Zara and wrote about how disgusting the world we live in is. How disgusting humans are when there is no humanity.
Another famous Pakistani actress Ushna Shah vowed to boycott the brand. She tweeted so do we throw away our existing Zara garments or simply stop purchasing new clothes? Since they have no logos on them, she doesn’t think wearing the ones they already have should be a problem. She will never shop there again.

The photo shoot of Zara supposedly featured young bodies wrapped in white cloth similar to Muslim funeral wraps. It also featured a cardboard cutout that resembles an upside-down Palestine map plus the statues with missing limbs, etc, and other images have sparked outrage on social media.
The brand appears to have erased the image in which a model is seen holding a mannequin dressed in white on her shoulders. She portrayed her as a Palestinian mother hugging her murdered child before burial wrapped in kafan (funeral fabric).
Netizens have slammed the fashion brand for its insensitive photoshoot in the light of the humanitarian disaster unfolding in Gaza. It has resulted in the deaths of over 17,000 Palestinians including 7,000 children as a result of Israel’s continuing attack.
