Bihar CM Nitish Kumar apologizes over population control remarks
The Chief Minister (CM) of the Indian state of Bihar, Nitish Kumar apologizes after facing the backlash over his remarks on population control.
CM Nitish has withdrawn his remarks after a huge political storm over his statement about population control in the Bihar assembly yesterday. He said that I take my words back and apologize if my statement has hurt anyone. He also claimed that people misconstructed and twisted his words.
Nitish Kumar sparked controversy by using derogatory language in the state assembly yesterday to explain the role of education and the contribution of women in population control.
The political party BJP and the National Commission for Women (NCW) criticized his remarks while explaining why the fertility rate of Bihar has dropped from 4.2 to 2.9 percent. They found his language “shameful” and “vulgar”. NCW leader Rekha Sharma demanded an apology from CM Nitish over the birth control remark.

As the controversy over the remarks of Bihar CM heated up yesterday, the deputy of Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi Yadav defended him. Tejashwi claimed that Nitish was discussing sex education in schools.
He remarked allow me to clarify whatever the Chief Minister said about sex education. People become hesitant when discussing this subject but it is taught in schools. CM stated what realistic steps must be taken to control the population. This should not be interpreted incorrectly.
On the other hand, the opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) targeted CM Nitish who was once his ally. BJP referred to him as a man whose mind is full of worms from B-grade adult films. Nitish Kumar belongs to the Janata Dal (United) political party.
