ANC bus crash victims’ mass funeral to be held in Botlokwa
The mass funeral of five bus crash victims of the ruling party ANC (African National Congress) will take place today in Botlokwa, outside of Polokwane in Limpopo. They died in a bus accident while traveling to the party’s 112th-anniversary celebration in Mbombela, Mpumalanga.
The bus carrying Mashao Setabola, Mosima Makganyoga, Mapula Rakubu, Magret Rakubu, and Manti Mafomo flipped over, resulting in their deaths.
Last Saturday, there was a crash on the R71 near Makgobakloof, outside of Tzaneen on Jan 13, 2024. Apart from ANC bus crash victims, numerous other people suffered injuries. There are eleven injured people in the hospital.
According to Jimmy Machaka, the ANC spokesperson for Limpopo, several party leaders would attend the mass funeral, including Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula.
The African National Congress in the province of Limpopo confirmed on behalf of the ANC National Executive Committee, that comrade Fikile Mbalula, Secretary-General of the ANC, will attend and speak at the Molemole Five funeral. The funeral will be held at eleven sports grounds in Botlokwa.
However, the African National Congress (ANC) will pay expenses for the funeral of five party members. African President Cyril Ramaphosa began a day-long program to meet with party members impacted by the tragedy on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Cyril paid a visit to three of the hospital patients in Mankweng. He also visited the life-saving imaging equipment in the hospital. After that, he went on to talk to the other eight patients at the hospital in Botlokwa.
Before the funeral, Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his support for the ANC. Cyril said he hoped that the funeral would be respectful. It will show their continuous support for ANC bus crash victims.
Furthermore, Cyril stated he told the leadership that their funeral had to be honorable and appropriate for ANC members.
