Americans question role of Secret Service in Trump assassination
Americans question the role of Secret Service agents following the failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump. They have also pinpointed serious concerns and unanswered questions regarding this incident.
They seek an answer as to how a sniper managed to get rooftop access. That was only 150 meters away from Trump’s stage at a political rally in Butler.
According to US media reports, gunshots came from the right side of Donald Trump from the three o’clock position. Shortly after, Secret Service counter-assault snipers found the shooter on the roof and shot him as a result.
The former law enforcement officials urged an extensive investigation into this assassination attempt. The inquiry regarding sniper shootings needs to focus on finding whether agents broke the several crucial rules of the Secret Service.
The most significant among them is why Secret Services agent did not secure a building within a thousand yards of the former president enough to stop the gunman from almost killing the expected Republican president.
In an exclusive interview, former Secret Service Director Julia Pierson stated that keeping such a sniper security barrier up to date is part of the agency’s job to keep protectees like Trump safe.
However, the sniper Thomas Crooks, 20 years old, fired many shots from the top of a building about 150 yards away from Trump’s stage at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024.
Julia believes that the President’s sniper’s range of 1,000 yards is a matter of concern for them. So, anything that falls inside that range is a professionally made shot. Hence, agents should be aware of them.
Ruben Gallego is an Arizona Democrat and former Marine spokesperson. He said those in charge of planning, approving, and executing this clearly insufficient security plan must testify before Congress. They should be held accountable.
Ruben claimed that there should never have been a clear line of sight on Donald Trump. That’s what his training in the Marine Corps taught him.
Overall, Americans question the role of Secret Service agents in an assassination attempt on Trump while considering the analysis of experts and their personal introspection.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden ordered Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to investigate an unbiased assessment of security measures held at the Trump rally.
It is significant to note that this assassination attempt is the first against a US President since 1975 and 1981. Former US President Gerald Ford survived two assassination attempts in 1975. However, ex-US President Ronald Reagan sustained injuries in a 1981 assassination attempt.
