18 Israeli soldiers injured in Hezbollah attack on Golan Heights
According to Israel’s Army Radio (GLZ Radio), 18 Israeli soldiers got injured in a Hezbollah attack on Golan Heights. This attack came after the Lebanese militant organization Hezbollah launched a drone attack on Golan Heights yesterday.
Golan Heights is an Israeli-occupied Syrian territory. GLZ Radio reported on X that one Israeli soldier received critical injuries. The other seventeen soldiers received minor injuries due to the explosion of a Hezbollah drone launched from southern Lebanon.
According to earlier reports, GLZ Radio reported injuries of nine soldiers. Hezbollah’s launch attack that injured 18 Israeli soldiers is not the first incident. Sometime after the Golan attack, Hezbollah declared that it had bombed the 91st Brigade’s northern Israeli headquarters.
Tensions have risen along Lebanon’s border amidst cross-border attacks by Hezbollah and Israeli forces. It all came after the deadliest conflict between Israel and Hamas broke out on October 7, 2023.
Since then, Israel has launched massive military attacks on civilians of Gaza, claiming its retaliatory response to the Palestinian militant organization, Hamas. Hezbollah is a close ally of Hamas due to its similar interests in the cause of Muslims and geopolitics.
Hezbollah stated that it will stop launching attacks on Israel once it ends its military operation in Gaza. Israeli Defense Forces have reportedly killed 37,900 Palestinians. The majority of them are children and women.
However, Israeli forces have killed 356 members of Hezbollah since the conflict’s initiation. They killed senior commanders of Hezbollah, including Abu Taleb, on June 12, 2024.
Abu Taleb was the most significant figure in Hezbollah to carry out organized attacks on Israel. Israeli forces also killed other senior commanders, including Mohammed Sabra Baqir, Hussein Hamad, and Salim Zufan, in the same attack in Southern Lebanon.
Hence, the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza has not remained limited to Palestinian territory but has expanded to the Middle East region. The people of Palestine have no access to mandatory essential items. Thousands of them are displaced on a massive level.
Similarly, border conflict forced thousands of Lebanese people to evacuate. Hence, the United Nations has urged all parties to cease their activities immediately for the sake of the affected people.
