Ghana High Commissioner to Nigeria Bawa died at the age of 65
The High Commissioner of Ghana to Nigeria, Ambassador Rawhide Bawa, died at 65 years of age in the capital city of Nigeria, Abuja. He was a Muslim by religion.
Authorities have returned his dead body to Kadjebi, Oti Region of Ghana for burial following Islamic traditions. However, the cause of death of the High Commissioner of Ghana to Nigeria, Rawhide Bawa is unclear.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria has made no official comment on the death of Ambassador Rawhide Bawa. But Ghana government officials have confirmed the news of his death.
Ambassador Rawhide Bawa was a former member of parliament and political party “New Patriotic Party or NPP. He also served as ambassador of Ghana in Saudi Arabia from 2005-2008.
Rawhide Bawa was one of eight renowned Ghanians appointed to head diplomatic Ghanian posts across global countries. He has also served as a Member of Parliament for the Akan Constituency from 2001 to 2005. Ghana President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appointed him as a high commissioner of Ghana to Nigeria in 2017.
The people of Ghana elected Rawhide (Independent candidate) as a member of parliament for the Akan constituency in the 2000 Ghanian general elections.

Meanwhile, Rawhide Bawa became the second person appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who died in less than a week. Previously, John Kumah, a deputy minister of finance, died on March 7, 2024.
John Kuma died due to natural causes including heart failure, severe anemia, and severe multiple myeloma. These details emerged on March 11, 2024, when authorities presented a detailed autopsy report of John Kuma to figure out the exact cause of his death.
President Nana Addo appointed John Kumah as deputy minister of finance in 2021. He also became among the top 20 President Nana’s most humble and respectful appointees.
