Pakistan host India Davis Cup for the first time in 60 years
Pakistan will host its big political rival India in their first 2024 Davis Cup tennis match on home soil in six decades. It is one of the few sports collaborations between the two countries in years.
Both teams from India and Pakistan will play a Group 1 playoff match on the grass courts (tennis playground) at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad. However, it has yet to be determined whether fans will be allowed due to security concerns.
The tennis player team of India has reached to host Country Pakistan to play in Davis Cup 2024. Pakistani tennis player Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi stated he is hopeful this relationship will serve as a bridge between Pakistan and India. He would also like to see the Indian cricket team play in Pakistan in the future.
However, India’s squad manager, Sunil Yajman, says the Indian team is looking forward to the match. The entire team is happy and excited to be in Pakistan. Meanwhile, he shared a video of Indian tennis players practicing on courts at Pakistan Sports Complex.

India last competed in the Davis Cup against Pakistan in 2019 and defeated Pakistan by 4-0 in Kazakhstan. Pakistan has not played on Indian soil since 2006. Pakistan and India have high rankings in the global tennis rankings.
However, Aisam claimed that three of their Pakistani players are in the top 100 of the world doubles rankings, and the singles players are also competitive, especially on grass courts.
The upcoming match on Feb 3 and Feb 4 between India and Pakistan is a significant and historic event. When India and Pakistan separated by a violent partition 76 years ago. One of the sport’s most intense rivalries emerged primarily in cricket, but also in hockey and other sports.
However, sporting teams from both sides rarely visit each other due to political disputes over Kashmir unless they are participating in sanctioned multinational competitions.
