Bayesian yacht sank due to tornado leaving one dead & six missing

A sailing yacht named “Bayesian” sank due to a tornado which left one person dead and six people including four British missing. The boat sank off the Sicily coast in Italy.

Italian media reported that the 56-meter Bayesian yacht was sailing with a British flag. The British yacht contained ten crew members and twelve passengers. The passengers included citizens from the United States and Canada making, a total of 22, people on board.

UK Shadow Foreign Minister Alicia Kearns expressed sadness at this tragic incident on X. She said her thoughts are with the families of those missing at sea.

Alicia also expressed condolences to those receiving medical treatment after the rescue operation. She ensured that affected British nationals and their families would get diplomatic support in Italy.

However, services for emergencies rescued 15 people including a one-year-old child in the aftermath of bad weather off Palermo coast. According to authorities, a tornado hit the yacht at 5 a.m. which resulted in drowning at a depth of 50 meters.

The British Foreign Office revealed it was in touch with local Italian authorities and gained information about this incident. They are fully prepared to provide diplomatic access to victim British nationals in Italy.

The person’s identity is unknown as he died as a Bayesian yacht sank due to a tornado. Italian Coastguard reported eight survivors are undergoing medical treatment in a hospital. A nearby boat helped them save before rescue personnel showed up.

The publicly accessible onboard tracker of Bayesian last sent out a signal close to Porticello at around 4:00 a.m. shortly before rescue operations started.

Camper and Nicholsons International manage the Bayesian yacht. Its spokesperson stated they are currently dealing with a situation on board their ships without mentioning the specific name.
