Karachi policeman suspended for changing clothes in front of women
Authorities suspended policeman ASI Parvez for changing clothes in front of women at Liaquatabad police station, Karachi. This suspension came after a video of ASI Parvez performing an indecent act went viral on social media.
The inappropriate act of ASI Parvez exposed an unethical culture inside the Sindh Police Department. It happened after Parvez called two women at a police station regarding a case investigation.
Soon summoned women arrived at the police station, and ASI Parvez appeared to take off his shirt before them. Before their arrival, Parvez only wore a vest but when women arrived, he started changing his uniform in front of women involved in a case in a viral video.
It showed his contempt for professional ethics by removing his shirt before women. The video also presented the obvious discomfort and shame of women as both of them turned their faces away in reaction to Parvez’s act.
Following this incident, the public expressed massive disappointment and raised concerns over the integrity of the Sindh Police Department.
Afterward, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) West, Irfan Baloch took strict notice of this incident and suspended Karachi policeman Parvez.
DIG Irfan emphasized they would not allow police officers to participate in such activities. This behavior would not be acceptable at any cost. Despite the provincial police chief’s efforts to reform the department, there is still a prevalent culture of irresponsibility.
We have witnessed several cases of inappropriate behavior of not only Sindh police but other provincial police too towards women. One such instance happened in February 2024 when a Rawalpindi police officer ASI Imtiaz Nasir used to beat an older woman in Taxila.
ASI Imtiaz first dragged the shawl of the victim woman and afterward slapped her many times while abusing her. A video of this act went viral on social media resulting in ASI Imtiaz’s suspension.
