Kerala TV journalist AV Mukesh killed in elephant attack
A TV journalist, AV Mukesh, from Kerala, was killed in a wild elephant attack while shooting a herd crossing a river in the Kotekkad area. This tragic incident happened in Palakkad district of Kerala.
AV Mukesh used to work for a Malayalam television news channel, Mathrubhumi News. He was doing his job by shooting wild elephants. Meanwhile, a wild elephant (tusker) attacked and killed him.
His affiliated TV Network claims that after being injured in the tusker attack, they sent Mukesh to the Palakkad district hospital. However, he died due to critical injuries.
Meanwhile, Kerala Forest Minister AK Saseendran expressed deep condolences to the family of Mukesh. Saseendran said he is sad to know that Kerala TV journalist AV Mukesh died in a tusker attack.
AV Mukesh was 34 years old and left behind his wife, Tisha. He was born in the Malappuram district of Parappamagadi. According to Indian media reports, a Delhi-based TV channel employed him before working for Mathrubhumi News. Nobody knew TV journalist AV Mukesh would be killed in an elephant attack in Kerala.
In a separate incident, a 70-year-old woman died due to an elephant attack in Kerala on March 4, 2024. This incident happened at Adimali in Idukki district of Kerala. However, it was the fifth such death this year in Idduki.

The victim woman was Indira Ramakrishnan. She was a resident of Kanjiraveli village in Adimali Pacnchayat. A wild elephant attacked her as she was grazing her sheep in her farmland.
In another incident, a 42-year-old man died due to a fatal elephant attack on February 10, 2024. This incident happened in Mananthavady town in the hilly Wayanad district of Kerala. The victim man was Ajeesh Joseph.
Kerala has witnessed several cases of deaths due to wild elephant attacks for some past years. Hence, the people of Kerala have demonstrated strong protests in the aftermath of these attacks.
