Marsh returned home from India today for personal reasons and is unlikely to return for the remainder of the World Cup. Cricket Australia said in a statement that a timetable for his return to the squad would be confirmed.
Australian Cricket Player Marcus Stonis revealed to Indian media reporters that Mitchell sent him a message last night saying that he would be home for a little while. Then he will be back to win this World Cup, which speaks to his mindset.
Marcus Stoinis said Mitchell had the full support of his teammates. He returned home late last night. Because he is dealing with a family problem. And, as we all know, family is very important, if not the most important thing in the world.
Marcus also said Mitchell is doing the right thing by returning home and seeing the people he needs to see. He doesn’t know when Mitchell will return. But Marcus is sure that Mitchell will do what he needs to do at home and then return.
Australia have already lost fellow all-rounder Glenn Maxwell for Saturday’s match against England following an unlikely injury on a golf course. And absence of Mitchell adds to the mystery as the five-time World Cup champions seek a place in the tournament’s knockout stages.
