Manchester United defeated Wigan by 2-0 in the FA Cup 2024

Manchester United defeated Wigan Athletic by a score of 2-0 in the third round of the FA Cup 2024. The football match took place at the DW Stadium in England.

Diogo Dalot from United scored in the first half. While Bruno Fernandes made a controversial penalty to seal United’s win. However, United dominated the game, and Marcus Rashford set up Dalot’s skilled goal with a perfect pass.

Even though they missed a few chances, United’s striking skill was clear the whole game. Rasmus Hojlund’s strong header hit the crossbar, and Alejandro Garnacho’s shot did the same thing, hitting the post.

Wigan tried to push United visitors from goal point, but they couldn’t make many serious developments. Early in the game, United’s goalkeeper Andre Onana was tested. But he stayed calm. United tightened their hold, setting the pace and making many chances as the game continued.

The turning point came when Bruno Fernandes took advantage of a controversial penalty call and carefully converted it to send United to the next round. Even though Wigan was upset, Manchester United with toughness and accuracy in the final minutes defeated and secured the win by 2-0.

However, United Manager Erik Ten Hag said he was happy with how the team played and stressed the importance of winning in the knockout event. He told team members to stay focused and praised the team for staying calm during the whole FA Cup tournament in 2024.

After winning the FA Cup, United has a big chance to save their season by going for a trophy. This gives them hope as they struggle in the Premier League and European tournaments.

As for the next game, the United team wants to keep up this good form against Tottenham in the Premier League. They will try to close the gap and fight for a valuable top-four spot.
