Two blasts targeting political candidates killed 25 in Balochistan

At least 25 people have died as a result of two separate blasts targeting political candidates in Pishin and Killa Saifullah, Balochistan. These tragic incidents come just one day before the general elections in 2024.

There are about forty people injured owing to the two deadliest blasts targeting political candidates. The first blast occurred outside an independent candidate Asfand Yar Kakar’s office in Pishin, Khanozai. It killed at least 15 people and injured more than 30 people.

Asfand Yar will run for the NA-265 constituency as well as the Balochistan Assembly constituencies PB-47 and PB-48. However, he was not present in his office at the time of the explosion. He was in Barshore when the blast occurred. Now, he is traveling back to Khanozai.

Asfand Yar told Geo News that the blast occurred on a motorcycle outside his electoral office. According to Asfand, eight of their workers died in the explosion. The blast happened when his team was finalizing the names of the polling agents in the election office.

However, the second blast occurred outside the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazil (JUI-F) office in the Qila Saifulla region. The injured and dead bodies have been brought to Tehsil Hospital Khanozai. MS Dr. Habib of Tehsil Hospital confirmed it.
