Parvez Elahi will contest elections under Imran Khan’s PTI

The former Chief Minister of Punjab Parvez Elahi will contest elections under Imran Khan’s PTI ticket. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) will also contest the general elections of 2024 under the “bat symbol”.

Imprisoned PTI President and chief minister of Punjab, Pervaiz Elahi vowed today that the PTI will run under the “cricket bat” symbol in the upcoming general elections. He also hoped that all those political members who had left the PTI would return.

Several major leadership and political members of PTI have left PTI following the 9th May riot incident. The PDM (Pakistan Democratic Movement) coalition government arrested Chairman PTI Imran Khan which led to violent protests and demonstrations by PTI members, workers, and supporters.

Afterward, the PDM government started a crackdown on a larger scale and arrested affiliated people with PTI. Following this, a large number of PTI leaders and members have either left the party or quit politics.

In this regard, coming forward Parvez Elahi will contest elections under Imran Khan’s PTI hoping that all PTI lefties will join the party again. He expressed his determination to vote for the PTI in the upcoming elections during an informal discussion with the media at the anti-terrorism court (ATC).

Pervaiz urged the Chief Election Commissioner to grant PTI its right and permit them to hold rallies. He blamed his political rivals Sharif brothers (Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif). He said Sharifs were buying votes with administrative resources.

It is important to note that Pervaiz Elahi has been facing detention since June 1st, 2023. He is currently in Adiala jail following the charges of ATC against him referring to his involvement in riots outside the Federal Judicial Complex (FJC).
