IHC accepted Imran Khan’s appeal in nine cases
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) accepted Imran Khan’s appeal in nine cases against the cancellation of bail by lower courts today. IHC Chief Justice Amer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood heard the plea of former Prime Minister Imran Khan relevant to three cases. These cases are connected to the May 9 riots, 3 concerning protests in Islamabad, the Toshakhana Case, a violation of Section-144, and an attempt to murder.
Before making a plea to IHC, Imran Khan appealed to district and session courts for bail in six cases. But he didn’t succeed to get bail. Likewise, he also approached Anti-terrorism courts to get bail in three cases. However, he got no relief from either anti-terrorism court. So, he appealed for bail in nine cases to Islamabad High Court.
The lower courts have rejected the appeal of Khan because of his absence during case proceedings. Now, the IHC has ordered the lower courts to hold proceedings based on Khan’s applications. Imran Khan had appealed to the IHC to order the trial courts to proceed with cases on merit. And to prevent them from arresting him until the final verdict is passed.
Today, the IHC accepted Imran Khan’s appeal in nine cases. It has passed the verdict in favor of Imran Khan. IHC has restored the applications of Khan and has stopped all lower courts from canceling his appeals.
