Ex-finance minister Sartaj Aziz died at the age of 94

Ex-finance minister and PMLN member Sartaj Aziz has died in Islamabad after suffering from a prolonged illness. PMLN leader Ahsan Iqbal confirmed the news of his death on Twitter X.

Ahsan wrote Sartaj Aziz was a worker of the Pakistan movement and a wonderful asset to the nation. His contributions to the nation will be remembered forever. Also, he stated he had the honor of working with Sartaj. He will never forget his love and guidance.

Moreover, PMLN President Shehbaz Sharif has expressed his condolences as their remarkable party member and Ex-finance minister Sartaj Aziz has died. He wrote the death of Sartaj fills their hearts with deep sorrow and sadness.

Meanwhile, President Arif Alvi expressed his sympathies for Sartaj Aziz. He wished the departed soul to find peace. He prayed for the family of Sartaj to get the patience to endure the loss.

Sartaj Aziz and his contributions

Sartaj Aziz was born in Nowshera on Feb 7, 1929. He involved himself in the Pakistan movement before joining the civil service in 1950. Afterward, he received his master’s degree in Economics from Harvard University in 1963. Sartaj was the Joint Secretary of the Planning Commission. He served in the Senate from 1985 to 1999.

However, there are many admirers of the late Sartaj who believe he provided exceptional services in the fields of finance and economics. He made significant contributions to the treasury and economic dynamics. Hence, he played a major role in FATF reforms, economic policies, agricultural plans, and water policies.

In this regard, Sartaj Aziz’s initiatives pushed the economy of Pakistan to new heights. It brought stability and relief to the people. He served the nation with dedication and hard work in the fields given to him.
