UK worst riots in 13 years with mass looting, anti-migration violent protests
The worst riots ever erupted in 13 years of the history of the UK as far-right protestors attacked at least two hotels that accommodate asylum seekers. Hundreds of people gathered on August 4, 2024, near the Holiday Inn Express hotel, in the northern town of Rotherham.
They proceeded to throw bricks at police, break several hotel windows, and set fire to trash. A line of police officers wearing shields faced a bombardment of fire extinguishers, chairs, and pieces of wood. It happened when police attempted to stop the rioters from entering the hotels.
The riots became more violent as a police helicopter flew overhead and took away the injured police officers as a result of the rioter’s attacks. At least 10 police officers received injuries. These riots remained active over the last weekend.
Meanwhile, UK Prime Minsiter Keir Starmer condemned these attacks by protestors calling it “far-right thuggery.” He expressed disappointment over British protestors targeting a minority community in the UK based on faith or different skin color.
Assistant Chief Constable Lindsey Butterfield stated they have witnessed behavior that is just disgusting. Although there were fewer protestors present, they opted to use violence and destruction but those who stood there and did nothing are still fully involved.
According to Lindsey, their officers are working hard to look over a large amount of online photos and videos of people involved in riots. Hence, rioters should be ready for them to show up at their doors very soon.
Later on last night, Staffordshire Police reported rioters targeted another hotel that housed asylum seekers near Birmingham. They started a large group of people in the town of Tamworth throwing fires at them.
According to police, protestors smashed hotel windows and targeted police in an attempt to invade the hotel. It resulted in the injury of one officer.
However, the violent confrontation between mob and police did not remain limited to Birmingham and Rotherham. It happened in several parts of Liverpool, Hull, Bristol, Leeds, Blackpool, Stoke-on-Trent, Belfast, Nottingham and Manchester.
The mob used to attack hotels, nearby shops, and businesses, looted items from there, and set property on fire. They specifically intimidated the local people, especially by targeting the Muslim community while attacking mosques since July 30, 2024.
We witnessed these worst riots in the UK ever in 13 years since the stabbing event happened in the north-west town of Southport on July 29, 2024. It resulted in the death of three little girls aged between 6 and 9 years.
There has been a lot of anger across the country against the Muslim community. UK Police claimed that fake reports circulated on social media that the 17-year-old suspect in the stabbing attack was a Muslim immigrant. However, the suspect was a British national named Axel Rudakubana.
It is significant to note that UK police have arrested more than 100 people so far in the aftermath of the deadliest UK riots. They are witch-hunting the remaining people involved in riots.
