Over 100 Delhi schools received bomb threats in India

Over 100 Delhi schools in India have received bomb threats through emails warning them of massive explosions on their property. In response to the threatened emails, police have started conducting search operations.

The initial investigation of law enforcement officials shows similar emails containing bomb threats have been sent to several schools in Delhi. Delhi police stated the bomb threat emails sent to the schools which appeared to be a scam.

Hence, they instructed the people of Delhi not to feel threatened by these bomb alerts. According to Delhi police, they have reduced all students from schools and brought them back home.

Atul Garg is the Chief of Delhi Fire Servies. He claimed the Delhi Police officers and several school administrators made multiple calls about bomb threats. They received repeated calls from one location.

According to Atul, their fire control room has received calls regarding bomb threats from over sixty schools. The number of receiving calls may rise. However, their firemen checked and evacuated a few schools where they found no bombs.

Several Indian media reports suggested over 100 Delhi schools received bomb threats through the email sawariim@mail.ru. They claimed that the Islamic State (without mentioning the name) used the Arabic term “Sawariim” which means “clashing of swords” to share Islamist propaganda since 2014.

Hence, the Delhi Police is investigating whether foreign organizations are conspiring to send these threatening emails. However, according to recent media reports, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena said law enforcement officials have investigated the source of threatened emails which turned out to be a “scam.”

Delhi authorities revealed that the conspirator used a single IP address to send all bomb threat emails to multiple schools. However, the relevant email address used a Russian domain but Indian officials are not sure whether emails were sent from Russia or not.
