Nigerian students stripped lecturer for alleged sexual harassment
Nigerian students stripped naked a senior lecturer at the Federal University Lokoja in Kogi State for alleged sexual harassment. The accused lecturer used to make sexual advances towards a female student.
This incident came after female students in the English Department became furious about his inappropriate behavior. They said his actions had caught up with him and insisted on his public humiliation.
However, the alleged lecturer accused his colleagues of his public humiliation during interrogation. He said his coworkers gave him the names of students to pass or fail based on their intimate relations with specific female students. The head of the English Department’s name was also among alleged coworkers.
According to the alleged lecturer, female students humiliated him based on his non-favoritism towards them. Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the university stated that management knew about the incident and had started an investigation to figure out the actual matter.
Mr. Daniel Iyke is a spokesperson for Federal University Lokoja. He said the university has its internal way of dealing with such matters. They have informed the Vice-Chancellor about it and have established a committee to investigate the matter. He further said this is all he can tell at this point.
However, Nigerian students stripped the accused lecturer naked and left him only wearing boxers. They also hit him violently. Meanwhile, the university’s security team saved him from further humiliation at the Adankolo mini campus.
According to local Nigerian media, they have made efforts to reach the alleged female student victim. However, they could not access her as the university’s administration prevented them from interacting with media reporters.
The father of the victim student is reportedly a policeman who also did not interact with media reporters to give a briefing on the incident. However, the name of the accused lecturer is unknown.
