Kenyans demand govt to free Shad Khalif & Boniface Mwangi after arrest

Kenyans demand govt to free activists Shad Khalif, Boniface Mwangi, and Hussein Khalid after their arrest in anti-government protests. The arrests of these famous activists happened on July 25, 2024, during the protest.

Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) condemned the arrests of activists. It also demanded their release. It stated free activists. They won’t stop calling for the officers responsible for the deaths of innocent Kenyans to be held accountable.

Kenyan police have also arrested four more individuals apart from Shad, Boniface, and Hussein. Their arrests came when human rights activist Boniface Mwangi led hundreds of protestors in a march demanding justice for those killed in anti-finance and change of government protests.

Before leading the protest, Boniface posted on social media, see you all at 11 a.m. on Kimathi Street. Let’s take their heroes’ (who died in anti-finance bill protests) families to the murder scene. So that they can place flowers there.

Boniface also advised Kenyans to make a video calling him a “traitor” if they see Raila anywhere. Let the old man (Raila) live out the rest of his life knowing that he betrayed Kenyans for a few bucks.

It is significant to note that Raila Odinga is the main opposition leader and former Kenyan Prime Minister. He fell victim to public wrath after his coalition with President William Ruto’s government.

We have witnessed months-long strong anti-government campaigns since the controversial 2024 finance bill’s launch. Even though President William has canceled the finance bill, the anger of Kenyans continues as several young Kenyans lost their lives in anti-finance bill protests at the hands of state action.
