Ioan Pintaru charged with murder attempt for stabbing 11-year girl
Suspected man Ioan Pintaru has been charged with a murder attempt for stabbing an 11-year-old girl at Leicester Square. Ioan is a 32-year-old man who allegedly stabbed a girl in a shocking incident yesterday.
His charge came after Metropolitan Police found a bladed weapon in his possession. They also noticed that Ioan did not have a fixed address.
Following this, they took him into custody and will present him in Westminster Magistrates Court today. This legal action came in the aftermath of the stabbing at a popular tourist destination in central London, Leicester Square.
Place visitors soon called police in response to reports of a stabbing there at 11:34 a.m. Metropolitan police stated they first believed the victim girl’s 34-year-old mother received injuries as she was covered in a pool of blood.
But later they realized they misinterpreted blood from her daughter’s wounds for the mother’s injuries. They rushed the victim girl to the hospital with severe but non-life-threatening injuries.
When the stabbing incident happened, police stated there was no indication that the crime had anything to do with terrorism. They did not think the victims and the suspect knew one another.
Meanwhile, the UK Metropolitan Police advised social media users and mainstream media to avoid publishing content regarding this case. They emphasized this case is active and unofficial claims about the case might affect court proceedings.
However, they have also charged Ioan Pintaru with charges of bladed weapon possession in addition to murder attempt. Further details will come within proceeding court developments and police investigation. Hence, the motive of Ioan behind the stabbing incident remains “unclear.”
Many social media netizens are describing him as a “Romanian immigrant” but police did not reveal his nationality. When this incident happened, many people were considering Ioan a British citizen.
It is significant to note that an estimated 2.5 million people visit Leicester Square and its surrounding areas each week. They may wander stores, theaters, cinemas, and restaurants.
