More than 11,000 people have been displaced due to Mount Ruang volcanic eruption in northern Indonesia. Ruang volcano erupts thick smoky clouds and ash more than two kilometers into the sky, extending the atmospheric zone.

Planes have also been disrupted due to extensive eruption access into the atmospheric zone. The thick clouds of smoky ash and orange flames have blocked the sunlight. Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation stated Mount Ruang has ejected hot lava and smoke into the air.

Video footage showed red lava flowing down the mountain, shining in the waterways below. It also showed rising clouds of grey ash above Ruang’s crater (volcanic mouth).

Mount Ruang volcano in northern Indonesia has erupted several times resulting in the forcible evacuation and massive air travel disruption in the affected area.

Avian authorities have declared that Sam Ratlangi International Airport in Manado will remain closed for at least this evening. It is due to the spread of volcanic ash which could endanger flight safety. The airport has connections with China, Singapore, and South Korea.

Ruang volcanic eruption started on April 16 in North Sulawesi Province at 9:45 p.m. Since then, it erupted dangerous, massive volcanic elements; that may affect humans severely.

The Indonesian volcanology agency increased the alert level to four, the highest on the scale for a 2,379-foot (725-meter) high mountain after four big explosions on April 17.

Initially, authorities evacuated more than 800 residents of Ruang to Tagulandang Island. It is close by and situated more than 100 kilometers north of Manado, the provincial capital.
