Indian-origin man arrested for shooting Nepalese student at her US flat

American police arrested an Indian-origin man, Bobby Singh Shah for fatally shooting a female Nepalese student Muna Pandey at her US flat. Bobby is a 51-year-old man while the dead student was a 21-year-old who fell victim to a fatal shot at her Houston, Texas apartment in the United States.

Bobby is facing charges of capital murder, the first-degree murder under special circumstances. The victim was a nursing student and sales representative.

According to American media, apartment staff received an anonymous tip and found Muna dead in her apartment at 6363 West Airport Boulevard on August 26, 2024 evening. Afterward, they called the authorities.

Initial police investigation led to the monitoring of CCTV footage. It showed a man leaving Muna’s apartment two days before her dead body was found.

Following the footage, police started tracking down the suspect later identified as Bobby Singh Shah. Harris County District Attorney’s Office filed a first-degree murder charge against him.

Afterward, Police arrested an Indian-origin man for shooting young Nepalese student Muna. They held him in custody during a traffic stop in northwest Houston on August 28, 2024.

US media also reported that the world’s leading crowdfunding platform “GoFundMe” bears expenses for the funeral ceremony of victim Muna.

This funding would help Muna’s mother attend her daughter’s final journey and ensure the victim receives a proper farewell.

However, the exact motive for Bobby remains unclear as to why he shot Muna which will hopefully come to light with further legal proceedings.

In a separate incident, an Indian-origin man and IT Professional Shankar Nagappa Hangud fatally shot his wife and his three children in Los Angeles.

Shankar confessed to shooting his family members due to financial pressure as he could not provide for them. His case became the center of attraction when he walked into the Mount Shasta Police Department, 320 kilometers away.

After reaching there, he told them about killing his family members. However, the US court sentenced him to life imprisonment without parole.
