Hidden camera found in Andhra Pradesh Women College’s washroom
Massive protests erupted after a hidden camera was found at Women College’s (SR Gudlavalleru Engineering) hostel washroom in Andhra Pradesh. SR Gudlavalleru Engineering College is located in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh.
This matter came to light when a group of female students found a hidden camera in their college hostel’s washroom on August 28, 2024. Afterward, female college students gathered at the hostel.
They raised slogans urging authorities to take action against responsible culprits for this disgusting act. They also demanded assurity of their safety at the college hostel.
However, the most shocking revelation came when police disclosed that a hidden camera recorded inappropriate footage of girls that culprits spread in a college boys’ hostel.
Former police officer and politician V V Lakshmi Narayana strongly condemned this incident. He said the discovery of spy cameras in the women’s hostel is unacceptable and a severe violation of privacy.
He also demanded strict action against culprits and emphasized regulating social media laws to prevent such violations from happening again.
The police have taken a final-year engineering student into custody in a case where they found a hidden camera in Women College’s washroom in Andhra Pradesh.
This legal action came in the aftermath of protests by female college students. The student protests started at 7 p.m. on August 28, 2024 night, and continued till August 29, 2024 morning. They chanted “We demand justice” and asked authorities to respond immediately and arrest responsible culprits.
Andhra Pradesh police stated they are currently investigating if further students have involvement in installing hidden cameras and spreading inappropriate videos of female students.
According to police, the suspect leaked over 300 photos and videos from the women’s hostel washroom. Some students from the college boys’ hostel bought these videos and images from the accused student whom the police arrested.
However, several female students have expressed discomfort and distress about going into washrooms freely after this incident. Meanwhile, authorities have ensured taking strict action against culprits.
