Hezbollah Commander Abu Taleb killed in Israeli strike in Lebanon

A fatal Israeli strike in southern Lebanon has killed a senior commander of Hezbollah, Abu Taleb, also known as Sami Abdallah. Hezbollah is a Lebanese Shia Islamist political party and militant group.

Abu Taleb was reportedly the most significant in Hezbollah to assassinate up to now since the start of the Israel-Hamas war. This war has exceeded violence along the border between Israel and Lebanon.

Hamas is a Palestinian Islamic militant group. Hamas and Hezbollah share strong religious and strategic relations and support each other.

The fatal Israeli strike came after Hezbollah launched 50 bombs into Golan Heights, which ignited flames. Israel targets Hezbollah and Hamas, claiming self-defense against their deadliest attacks on them.

Lebanese militant organization Hezbollah reportedly stated that the Israeli strike killed its senior commander, Abu Taleb. It also announced the death of three more fighters, including Abu Taleb, due to the Israeli strike. This strike happened in Jouaiyya town in the Tzur region. Jouaiyyan is located 15 km from the Israeli border.

The other three dead Hezbollah members were significant figures in the organization. Mohammed Sabra Baqir, Hussein Hamad, and Salim Zufan are among the dead Hezbollah members. Sabra was the deputy commander of Nasser’s unit, while Hussein and Salim were also commanders.

Since the Gaza war on Oct 7, Israeli forces and Hezbollah, a Hamas ally, have been involved in almost constant gunfire. Several bushfires have outbroken on both sides of the border due to intense gunfire between Israel and Hezbollah in recent days.

At least 467 people have reportedly died in Lebanon over more than eight months of cross-border fighting, including 90 civilians. Israel sources claim the death of 15 Israeli soldiers in a fight with Hezbollah. This intense border fighting has displaced tens of thousands of people.
