Ghana man-made Guinness record by hugging over 1100 trees
A 29-year-old Ghana man named Abubaker Tahiru made a Guinness World record by hugging over 1100 trees in an hour. Abubaker is a Ghanaian environmental activist and forestry student.
Guinness World Records posted incredible accomplishments on Instagram. Abubaker set this record in Tuskegee National Forest. It is one of four national forests in Alabama state of United States.
He needed to hug trees quickly on average, once every three seconds to break the world record. Interestingly, hugging a tree more than once could not break the record.
According to Guinness World Records, Abubaker tried to break this record during his Ramadan fast. He said he faced difficulty as he could not drink water throughout the attempt, especially during his physical exertion.
However, Abubaker said he achieved this, which became an advantageous situation, as he completed the record without stopping for water breaks.
Hence, Ghana man Abubaker hugged around 1,123 trees in one hour and made the Guinness World Record. The recorded video of Abubaker has received more than 28,000 likes and one million views since the Guinness World Record posted it on Instagram.
Many Instagram users congratulated Abubaker Tahiru on his extraordinary achievement. He needed to hug more than 700 trees to become the first record-holder.
Abubaker said setting this world record feels very satisfactory. It is a heartfelt gesture that emphasizes the value of trees to ecology and the urgent need for environmental protection.
Abubaker Tahiru hails from a rural background and a farming community. He developed a strong interest in the preservation of nature. After earning his forestry degree, he relocated to Alabama, US, in 2023 to attend Auburn University for his master’s program in forestry.
