Frankfurt shooting: Man shot dead traveler in head at train station

A 54-year-old man approached a traveler and shot him straight into his head resulting in a fatal shooting at crowded Frankfurt Central Station.

The gunman went to a 27-year-old victim from behind and fired multiple revolver rounds at him while he was standing on Platform 9 of the station at approximately 9:00 p.m.

As a result, the victim passed away at the moment. The suspect attempted to escape after shooting him but police quickly arrested him on a nearby platform.

German police blocked all train traffic in the aftermath of the shooting incident. They started looking for a pistol that was thought to have been a weapon used in killing the victim. They found it and opened train traffic after a 25-minute search operation at the station.

According to Frankfurt prosecutors, the victim and suspect are both citizens of Turkey. They stated the investigation is still ongoing and they are finding a possible motive behind the Frankfurt shooting incident.

However, they will appear suspect before a judge, who will decide on his detention. Massive travelers hit Frankfurt Central Station on shooting day as it is a busy platform. Hence, little signs left of a deadly shooting that had happened just hours before.
