Famous activist Jahmby Koikai died at age of 37, netizens mourn

Famous Kenyan activist and radio host Njambi Koikai; famous as Jahmby, died at 37 age in a Nairobi hospital on June 3, 2024 morning. Her friends and family confirmed the news of her death.

Just three days before her death, Jahmby had made a public appeal for blood donations on her Instagram stories. She requested blood donations for her blood group O+. She was receiving treatment for her complicated medical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Nairobi Hospital.

Jahmby wrote Hello family! She is currently at Pioneer Ward of Nairobi Hospital. She kindly requests Blood O positive. Please consider donating blood for Jahmby Koikai.

The dead Jahmby was suffering from the disease of endometriosis. Endometriosis is a medical condition where tissue (similar to the uterus) grows outside the uterus, causing inflammation and scar tissue in the pelvic region and other body parts.

However, Jahmby appealed to Kenyan officials, including President William Ruto, only a few days earlier in her social media post. She asked him to consider funding medical centers that treat endometriosis.

Jahmby also described her long struggles while dealing with endometriosis. She shared how misplaced endometrial tissue caused her lungs to collapse every month. It forced her to undergo multiple surgeries.

Hence, she talked about how it took 17 years to get her endometriosis diagnosis. And lack of easily accessible treatment alternatives in Kenya.

She was also brave enough to talk about how her disease had affected her body. She revealed misplaced tissue spread to her teeth, heart, intestines, and spine. Meanwhile, she also disclosed how endometriosis and adenomyosis can make it hard to get pregnant.

Adenomyosis is a gynecological condition. It occurs when the uterus lining (endometrium) grows into the uterus’s muscle. Hence, it makes the size of the uterus double or even triple.

Hence, famous activist Jahmby Koikai died at an earlier age due to her long battle struggle with complicated endometriosis disease. Kenyans are sad at her demise and praying for her departed soul!
